Gabriel is here!

This is my first blog entry. I figured I would start a blog since I now have a son and it would be a good way to let family know what is going on in the life of the Jents. I am going to start this blog with a little bit about myself and my husband and then continue on to the birth of our son.

My name is Kristin Jent. My maiden name was Schmidt. Proud to be a Schmidt lol. Anyways I am 24 yrs old and getting older. I use to be a great athlete. I was amazing a volleyball and was ok at basketball. I have played pretty much every sport there is out there. I enjoy photography above all things. I have always had a camera in hand since I was little. I also enjoy scrapbooking and movies. I am a big nature gal too. I married a wonderful man named Nicholas Jent on April 19 2008. He is such a sweet and caring man. He is an electrcian. He loves to hunt (even though I have yet to see him get a deer lol) and fish. He was recently layed off of his job at Long Electric. Which has made times rough. He has just started to get side work. We are both Catholic and both have wandered away from the religion at one point in time. We have found our way back through each other and our son. Now we just need to wake up early enough in the morning to make it to church lol. We can't wait to see what life brings us the good and the bad. We love each other till the end and beyond.

On Febuary 17 2009 our son was born. Here is the story.

The birth of Gabriel.

Gabriel was due on March 28th. But he had plans of his own. On the morning of February 16th my water broke. Obviously this freaked us out a bit because we had six more weeks till I was due. We had nothing packed and we not prepared for this at all. We only got two of our birth classes in. We showed up at the hospital around 10:30 am and I was probably laying in the bed with an iv and antibiotics by eleven. Contractions started out really slow and irregular at first. The whole time I was in labor I had no idea how far along I was because the doctors refused to check me since my water broke and I was premature. They did not want to introduce infection. Around midnight the nurse came in and suggested I take some pain killers through the iv so that I could get some rest. They thought I was going to be in labor for over 24hrs. I said OK because I was exhausted. The pain killers knocked me out but not for long because I still could feel the contractions. By about four o'clock in the morning the pain really kicked in. I was feeling pressure and could barely breath right because all I wanted to do was scream. Because I was yelling at them that I wanted to push the nurses decided that they wanted to check me now. Low and behold I was eight centimeters. This kind of angered me because I wanted my epidural way before I got this far. I kept yelling at the nurse to get me my epidural. I really have no idea how long it took for them to get the epidural for me but it felt like an eternity. I swear the baby was going to come out right then. The funny part was the doctor who gave me the epidural is the father of a friend I went to school with from fourth grade to graduating high school. He was my hero that day. By the time they gave me my epidural and I started to rest they nurse came in and checked me again and I was complete. Baby was coming now. We tried pushing for only a half hour and the doctor noticed that baby was not making progress because I could not feel the contractions. Also baby head was facing the wrong way. The let me rest for about forty five minutes and then I started to feel the pressure again. This time with just a few pushes they could see the head. In about forty five minutes to an hour of pushing little baby Gabriel came into the world. When they put him on my stomach I could not believe how little he was and that I created him. He was so handsome. Who knew you could love something that quickly. We were so lucky that he came out so healthy for being premature. We thank God everyday for that. I could have not done this without my husband. He was by my side through it all. Rubbing my back and making sure I was breathing right. And saying calm and loving things to me. He is such a proud papa and loves his son so much. I also thank my mother who was there and helped me through the pain. When Nick would step out she was there. I also thank her and love her for going through the pain to have me. Gabriel was born on February 17 at 7:10 am. He was 5 lbs 10 oz and 19 1/4 inches. We got lucky and got to bring him home the next day. He was perfectly healthy except a slight case of jaundice. He is now a week old and doing great.
